2-DAY IMPERIAL TOUR FROM CASABLANCA TO FES
Description of 2 days from Casablanca to Fes
Our 2 Days from Casablanca to Fes tour offers an immersive experience through Morocco’s rich history and vibrant landscapes.
Itinerary for 2 days from Casablanca to Fes
Day 1: Casablanca to Fes via Meknes and Volubilis
Your private driver will pick you up from your hotel in Casablanca, and we’ll begin our journey to Fes. On the way, we’ll travel through Meknes, which is about a three-hour drive. Along the route, we’ll stop for coffee and a break.
In Meknes, we’ll explore the city’s key attractions. Founded in the 9th century by the Zenata Berbers, Meknes developed along the fertile plains of the Sais and the banks of the Oued Bou Fekrane. Highlights of our visit include the famous Bab El Mansour gate, the last architectural project commissioned by Moulay Ismail, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum, the medina, the Great Mosque, and the granaries.
Next, we’ll head to the ancient Roman city of Volubilis. This historic site, inhabited since the Neolithic period, was later occupied by the Carthaginians and Romans, who established a flourishing oil trade around 40 BC. A local guide will lead us through the site, showcasing landmarks like the House of Orpheus and the House of Dionysus. We’ll have lunch at a local restaurant before continuing our journey to Fes, where we’ll spend the night in a riad within the old town.
Day 2: Guided Tour of Fes and Return to Casablanca
At 9:30 am, you’ll meet a local guide at your riad to begin exploring Fes, Morocco’s oldest imperial city and a significant religious, intellectual, and cultural center. Known for its traditional handicrafts and renowned university, Fes is often called “the Athens of Africa.”
We’ll start our tour at the Royal Palace, with its intricately decorated doors, eggshell facade, and green Saracen tiles. Then we’ll visit the Mellah (Jewish Quarter) and the Blue Gate before heading to Fes El Bali (the old medina). Here, we’ll explore the Andalusian district, home to the 9th-century Andalusian Mosque, and the Kairouyiene Mosque, built in 857.
After a thorough exploration of Fes, we will return directly to Casablanca, concluding our 2 Days from Casablanca to Fes tour.
